Who it is for
For those who have done the first courses, or know the basics, and want to put their own goals and numbers into one simple written plan.
The lessons
Each lesson has a short video, a quiz and links to learn more. The full lessons open after a free sign-in.
Lesson 1: Your goals in numbers
6 min
Turn vague wishes into clear goals: what, when and how much, sorted into short, medium and long term.
Key points
- Every goal needs three things: what, when and how much.
- Sort goals into short (under 3 years), medium (3 to 10) and long (10+).
- Write each goal, with a number and a date, on your plan page.
Lesson 2: Your money check
6 min
A one-page check of where you stand today: net worth, monthly surplus, emergency fund and debts. Fix the foundations before you invest.
Key points
- Check four things: net worth, monthly surplus, emergency fund and debts.
- Fix the foundations first: a buffer and no expensive debt (Foundations first).
- Give each number a traffic light: green, amber or red.
Lesson 3: Your risk profile, for real
6 min
Retake the risk questions, give each goal its own time horizon, and write down now what you'll do if your investments fall by 30%.
Key points
- Retake the risk questions now that you know more.
- Give every goal its own horizon; each pot gets its own risk level.
- Write your rule for a 30% fall while you're calm, and sign it.
Lesson 4: Your mix
7 min
How cash, bonds and shares are usually balanced by time horizon, why a simple core works, and why fewer, cheaper and broader usually wins. Education, not a recommendation.
Key points
- Cash, bonds and shares are usually balanced by horizon. This is education, not advice.
- Keep a simple core and, if you want, a small explore part.
- Fewer, cheaper, broader: costs and complexity add up over time.
Lesson 5: Choosing a provider
7 min
A practical checklist for choosing a bank, broker or adviser: licence, costs, protection, withdrawals, a real person and no pressure. Never decide on the first call.
Key points
- Check the licence in your country's register, then the costs, protection and withdrawals.
- Ask the six questions, expect answers in writing, and check the red flags in the next lesson.
- Never decide on the first call. Compare, take the papers home, sleep on it.
Lesson 6: Red flags before you sign
7 min
Before you hand money to anyone: the warning signs of a bad or fake offer, the five-minute register check, and what to do if something feels wrong.
Key points
- Guaranteed or very high returns, pressure to decide now and requests for secrecy are the classic warning signs; so is a ‘robot’ or ‘AI’ that promises to trade for you.
- Check the firm in your regulator's register and warning list, compare the exact name and web address, and never give remote access or read out a code.
- If money has gone: stop paying, call your bank, report it, and refuse anyone who offers to ‘recover’ it for a fee.
Lesson 7: Your first 90 days
6 min
Turn your plan into habits: an automatic monthly amount, a first review date and a short not-to-do list. Then download your certificate.
Key points
- Set up an automatic monthly amount and put your first review date in the calendar.
- Keep a short not-to-do list next to your plan.
- Download your certificate, keep your written plan with it, and review the plan when life changes.
